A Gem in Alnwick The Cookie Jar is a little gem of a hotel In Alnwick. We love Alnwick but this by far the best place we have stayed. Our room had every need catered for. Excellent food and great breakfast. Staff very helpful. Special thank you to Caitlin. Delicious cookies.

Wonderful afternoon tea including the gluten free one Visited for afternoon tea and fizz - a gift from a close friend. We cannot speak too highly of the Cookie Jar and will definitely be back. Lovely, friendly staff and wonderful food. One afternoon tea had to be gluten free and was excellent, as was the standard one. Got to look around some of the bedrooms as well - very nice.

I can’t speak highly enough of our experience here! Everything about our experience here was fantastic. The booking experience through their website was very straight forward including listing a special request for our stay. From arriving, the staff were friendly and very professional. We traveled for my partners birthday and in the room we received some small extra touches that made her stay and birthday that much more special. The beds are very comfortable and the room itself was fantastically designed and very clean. Personal highlight was the shower! Breakfast in the morning was very nice too and set us up for the day perfectly. Also, with its proximity to central Alnwick, the location couldn’t be much better either. Highly recommend the cookie jar and we will be back!

A magical find in Alnwick, we'll definitely be back! After seeing George Clarke talk about this fantastic boutique hotel, we knew we had to book an evening as we were travelling up to the east coast of Scotland for a wedding. A fantastic, central location with views of the magical Alnwick Castle, everything about this boutique hotel felt incredibly well thought out; combining high-class, expensive, quality furniture, while keeping a relaxed, genuine family-owned atmosphere. As soon as we arrived we had a friendly northeast welcome and the staff were incredibly thoughtful and helpful throughout our stay. In the evening, we sat down to one of the best 3 course meals we've ever tasted for my dad's birthday. A great array of choice on the menu and as the four of us all had different dishes, the fact we all described the food as delicious in every bite, is a fantastic compliment to the chef and their team. Within the room, the beds were incredibly comfortable, the shower was very impressive (and powerful water pressure, hard to come by usually in a hotel) and it was lovely to see that the hotel have fully embraced their history with a booklet of the story of 12 Bailiffgate in each room. It's not just the bigger things that have been done incredibly well, but it was the actual cookie jar filled with cookies that was the cherry on top of the cake. We will definitely be back! Thank you all.

No pressure to leave Lovely afternoon tea. Good choice of unlimited drinks. Most importantly allowed to quietly enjoy conversations. Permitted to stay how long we wanted without feeling we were being pressured to leave. Pleasant room nicely decorated with old plates and old cutlery in frames.

Wow! What a fabulous little hotel.. love love love! Absolutely loved everything about our stay. The staff are lovely and love their doggie guests just as much as their human guests! We loved the location next to the castle and the scenic walk along the pastures with the stunning backdrop of the castle. The breakfast was incredible. The granola is the best I’ve ever tasted. The full English was faultless too. Our room Sweethope Lough was very comfortable with lovely views towards the Alnwick estate, and the doggie treats were a nice touch. This is a very special independent small hotel which ticks all the boxes!

Fantastic little gem, will be returning. Great location with parking outside, a parking permit was given to guests for the duration of your stay. 30 seconds from Alnwick Castle. Cannot fault all the staff who were so helpful and could not do enough for you. Cannot fault the room (Linford Spout) which was huge, clean, fantastically decorated and fully equipped. Amazing drench shower. The beds were extremely comfortable and great pillows, slept so well. No noise from other guests. Evening meal was fantastic, good selection of wines, served by the glass and/or the bottle. Soft shelled crab starter was amazing. Breakfasts were fantastic, great selection of dishes. Attention to all dietary needs and all were catered for with lots of choice. Luxurious lounge.
