A Haven of Peace with a Touch of History - From the moment you step inside, there’s a serenity that seems to seep from the very walls—perhaps a lingering echo of the building’s past life as a convent. The calm... read more is almost tangible. My room felt like a private sanctuary, perfectly peaceful, as though I had the entire place to myself. It’s only when you wander down to breakfast that you realise you’re not the sole guest; the quiet hum of conversation is the first hint of other people sharing the space.
The food is genuinely top notch—beautifully prepared, generous, and clearly made with care. Every dish feels like a treat. The staff match the quality of the food: friendly, welcoming, and effortlessly attentive without ever being intrusive.

Beautiful Gem in Alnwick - From the moment we arrived to a friendly welcome and taken to our room, breakfast and dinner in the Bistro the staff were amazing.
A beautifully decorated cosy hotel... read more throughout, excellent position to the Castle (end of the road) and a few minutes from the centre.
This Cookie Jar was a Covent and beautiful features reflect this.
There is a jar of cookies in your room, which are top up daily and umbrellas in the wardrobes!
Food is amazing, we will definitely recommend and will return when next in Northumberland.
Thank you to the team ❤️

Cookie jar boutique hotel little gem - My husband and I stayed 4 nights at the cookie jar hotel for our wedding anniversary. Situated in the market town of Alnwick next to the castle is a beautiful... read more building originally a convent. It was renovated into a boutique hotel in 2017 by Debbie and Robert. The decor is tastefully and eloquently accomplished. Arriving at the hotel we were greeted by a friendly receptionist Louise. Louise gave us a tour of the hotel explaining where everything was, then took us to our room. We were staying in Goswick , it was tastefully furnished with a superking bed, sofa, wetroom and view’s of Bailiffgate. The room was clean and comfortable with a home from home feel. It had everything we needed. There was even a jar of fresh cookies on the table. Louise gave us a sneaky peek of the chapel suite. An original chapel used by the nuns for prayer. This stunning room with stained glass windows and carved beams was amazing, so beautifully presented.
Breakfast was a great experience with a variety of good food to choose from. We were greeted by Lynn who made our breakfast an enjoyable experience. Lynn reads the room, she notices people’s personalities, wants and needs and caters for them perfectly. Lynn is a unique asset to the hotel.
The cookie jar is in a prime location for visiting this historical market town and surrounding picturesque costal villages such as Alnmouth, Warkworth, Bamburgh with its castle and white sandy beaches.
The cookie jar is a little gem. The staff are amazing and nothing is too much trouble. The little touches they did for our anniversary made our anniversary very special.
A big thank you to all the staff especially the 2 lynn’s and Louise.

Great few days in this beautifully appointed, friendly hotel - Great few days staying at The Cookie Jar in Alnwick. The best thing for me was the effort they have taken to make this the most beautifully decorated small hotel... read more I have ever been to. Every corner has been curated. Excellent room, wonderful space in the bathroom, massive shower. Small touches like cookies (of course), honesty bar, and a wonderfully seductive aroma of local scented candles and diffusers follows you about the hotel. Breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day with homemade granola pots, kippers, and a huge English breakfast selection. We had requested firmer pillows which weren't supplied, but all in all a lovely escape from February weather. Staff incredibly friendly. Well done all.
